Well here is a lucky find today! I just received an original postcard of a restaurant called the China Clipper from either the late 1930s or early 1940s. According to my research, Wah Sun (Watson) Choy, a passenger on the Hawaii Clipper caring a very large some of money to his brother Frank in China, was a part owner and manager of three restaurants: The China Clipper Restaurant at 3 Doyers Street, Manhattan; The Plaza Tea Garden and another China Clipper Restaurant in Journal Square in Jersey City, NJ. I’m checking to see if this had any affiliation with Choy however the 789 7th Ave. address puts the restaurant depicted on the postcard four miles away and in midtown Manhattan.
